Brian Wismath (Producer, Conductor)
Brian Wismath began his musical career as a chorister in the Toronto Mendelssohn Youth Choir, directed by Robert Cooper. After completing a Bachelor of Music degree at Queen's University, Brian received a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona. He has studied conducting with James Jordan, Kenneth Keisler, Robert Page, Donald Portnoy, Dale Warland, Jon Washburn, and William Weinert.

As an advocate for opera and new music, Brian directed the 2003 season of the Queen's Student Opera Company, with a production of The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat (Nyman) and Hansel und Gretel. In 2005, at the University of Arizona, he directed a student production of Mozart's Bastien und Bastienne, in addition to a concert of Twentieth Century works including Ernest Bloch's Concerto Grosso No. 1 and works by Oliver Knussen. In the fall of 2006, Brian was invited to conduct the winning work from the Young Artist Composition Competition, performed at the Music Teachers National Association conference in Toronto. Most recently, Brian has established a new organization in Toronto that promotes the performance of contemporary opera and chamber works entitled Toronto Chamber Opera Productions. Their upcoming inaugural production, Three Operas in One Hour, will feature the premiere performance of a commissioned work O D'Amarte O Morire by American composer Peter Fischer.

In 2006, Brian conducted the Vancouver Chamber Choir as a participant in the annual Conductor's Symposium broadcasted on CBC radio. He was director of the Tucson Masterworks Chorale in Tucson, Arizona, in addition to founding and directing the Tucson Chamber Choir. Since the fall of 2006, Brian has been the Associate Conductor of the Orpheus Choir of Toronto and the Ontario Youth Choir, and has assisted with Chorus Niagara, Opera in Concert Chorus, and the King Edward Singers in Barrie. Brian has held directing positions at St. Francis de Sales Church (Arizona) and the Church of St. Bride (Clarkson, Ontario) and was the operations manager for the Exultate Chamber Singers from 2006-2008. In the summer of 2008, Brian is moving to Stockholm, Sweden to continue his conducting studies.
